The OBI Phone is a new kind of Smartphone

 

While working at Swordfish I Helped Launch the OBI phone. I was alone responsible for all the CG which was done in Maya + VRay. We received the phone in CAD format so first step was to convert it using Rhino as this was before Cinema 4D Introduced their new incredible format converter tool.

My first task was to find the angles that best showcased the design of the phone and its features. Then take pictures of the physical product for texture and shader references, before moving into 3D where I matched the shaders in vRay inside of Maya.

Once this was done I went through each key angle and did “highlight placements” on all the corners and angles that had to pop for the phone to stand out in most flattering way possible.

Once all the “poster stills” were delivered we moved onto the animated teaser which can be seen below.
